3 Common Sciatica Mistakes
If you have sciatica, read on to discover the 3 common sciatica mistakes that many people with sciatica make. Once you stop making these mistakes, your chances of getting sciatica relief will be much higher.
MISTAKE #1: Waiting To Feel Better
When you wait to see if your sciatica symptoms go away, you waste valuable treatment time… and you risk feeling worse. You have sciatica, because your sciatic nerve is being pinched. This pinching pressure is NOT mild. Your sciatica nerve must be getting pinched so hard that you feel the sciatica pain, burning, tingling, numbness or weakness.
Imagine that a big rock fell on your foot… pinching your foot. If you don’t free up your pinched foot, you’ll start to feel pain and tingling and maybe a burning sensation. If you continue to ignore the rock and you don’t get the rock off your foot, your foot will eventually get numb and weak.
Would you wait for your foot to feel better? Or would you get that rock off your foot?
Wouldn’t you want to unpinch your sciatic nerve as soon as possible?
MISTAKE #2: Covering Up Your Sciatica With Painkillers
Since, sciatica can be very painful and debilitating, maybe you’re doing what a lot of sciatica sufferers do… taking painkillers to keep their sciatica symptoms at bay. Painkillers can be effective in buying you time and comfort, while you search for a more permanent solution to your sciatica.
Here’s the problem with painkillers: they’re designed to alter your brain chemistry so that you don’t feel pain. These painkillers don’t unpinch your pinched sciatica nerve. Painkillers just cover up your symptoms. In the above scenario with the tree falling on your foot, would you take painkillers and expect your pinched foot to feel better?
You might get temporary relief, but your still have to get the rock off your foot. With your sciatica, you still have to fix your pinched sciatic nerve.
MISTAKE #3: Doing The Wrong Sciatica Exercises And Stretches
Sciatica exercises and stretches can do wonders for you. But, there’s a hidden danger of doing the WRONG sciatica exercises. They can make your sciatica WORSE. With our rock example above, doing the wrong exercises for sciatica relief is like pushing the rock farther against your foot… or pinching your sciatica more. You have to know which direction to push or stretch to unpinch your sciatic nerve. On the the same token, you have to know which direction NOT TO PUSH OR STRETCH.
I’ve helped hundreds of patients with sciatica after over 16 years in practice. One of the most common questions I get from my sciatica patients is, “What exercises and stretches can I do to relieve my sciatica?” Since I was getting this question so often, I put together a book with sciatica exercises that I give to my patients who ask me for sciatica exercises.
If you’d like, you can also get a free copy of the sciatica book that I wrote titled, “How To Relieve Sciatica And Avoid Back Surgery.” Once you get the book, go to pages 24 – 28 to discover the sciatica exercises that I recommend to my patients. When you order the book, you’re NOT obligated to become my patient or to buy anything from my clinic. I just want you to get the help that you need to relieve your sciatica. I know from treating many sciatica patients that sciatica can severely damage a person’s life and relationships. I don’t want you to get through that.
If after you read and follow the advice in my sciatica book, and you’re still not getting sciatica relief, I’d be happy to help you. I use modern non-surgical sciatica treatments that are very effective. If you’d like my help, call my office at (831) 475-8600 or click on the “NEW PATIENT OFFER” box below. Thank you for your time and I hope you find the sciatica relief that you’re looking for.
